Since 2001, the National Fire Protection Association has conducted a United States national survey of over 26,000 municipal fire departments. In 2015 this survey was modified for the first time to address the lack of understanding in municipal fire department wildfire capabilities and preparedness. This presentation will focus on quantifying (1) how the US fire service is maintaining basic firefighter fitness, health and behavioral health programs, (2) why it is important and, (3) present some related NFPA standards that help mitigate these risk factors in the fire service.
Who will benefit: Fire marshals, firefighters, fire chiefs, health care providers, local and federal policy makers
