What is NFPA 418?
NFPA 418: Document Scope
1.1 Scope. 1.1.1 This standard specifies the minimum requirements for fire protection for heliports and rooftop hangars. 1.1.2 This standard does not apply to ground-level helicopter hangars. 1.1.3 All hangars not covered by this standard are required to comply with NFPA 409, Standard on Aircraft Hangars. 1.1.4 Temporary landing sites and emergency evacuation facilities are outside the scope of this standard.
This standard establishes fire safety requirements for operations at for heliports and rooftop hangars for the protection of people, aircraft, and other property. Official document scope
What does NFPA 418 address?
General requirements for land-based facilities cover plans, tank and equipment locations, fire-fighting access, fuel spill control, fueling systems, and means of egress. Separate chapter address issues specific to rooftop landing facilities, rooftop hangars, water supply, offshore heliports, portable fire extinguishers, and emergency operations. Table of Contents
