What is NFPA 556?
This guide identifies major fire safety concerns associated with passenger road vehicles and provides guidance on methods and tools to decrease the fire hazard or fire risk associated with such vehicles, thereby increasing the likelihood that occupants will have time to exit or be rescued in case of fire.

What does NFPA 556 address?
NFPA 556 provides guidance toward a systematic approach of the determination of the relationship between the properties of passenger road vehicles and the development of hazardous conditions in the vehicle. It presents a methodology that can be used in the selection of materials and design of components and systems, with the intent of providing a desired level of fire safety to occupants in passenger road vehicles in response to specific fire scenarios.Table Of Contents.
