The Future of AFFF (aqueous film-forming foam)
A recent Ohio Supreme Court ruling cleared the way for a lawsuit by family members over the deaths on July 3, 1996, when a cigarette spark set off fireworks at Ohio River Fireworks in Scottown. Lawyers for the victims' families have argued that the fire marshal's office, conducting an undercover operation of illegal fireworks at the store, discovered three days earlier that the sprinkler system had been disabled but did nothing.
UPDATE: In a surprise fire drill, office workers evacuated one tower of the world's tallest buildings in Malaysia on 9/23/02, the first since a bomb scare in September 2001 forced the evacuation of both of the Petronas Twin Towers.
