2013 NFPA 72® Designing Mass Notification Systems 2-Day Seminar

Ray is a Principal of Arup and the leader of Arup Fire in the Americas. He is licensed as a fire protection and mechanical engineer in several states and has over twenty five years experience in fire protection engineering. Ray is a past president of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers and is a Fellow of the Society. He also served as a trustee of The Fire Protection Research Foundation of the National Fire Protection Association.

He is the editor of the Detection and Alarm Section of the Nineteenth Edition of NFPA®'s 2008 edition of the Fire Protection Handbook and is a chapter editor of the 2002 Edition of the National Fire Alarm Code Handbook.

Ray has served on a number of NFPA® technical committees and currently chairs the Notification Appliances Technical committee of the National Fire Alarm Code Project (NFPA 72®) and serves on the Technical Correlating Committee of NFPA 72. He also serves on the NFPA 13 Technical Correlating Committee.

Wayne is a licensed professional fire protection engineer, is a Principal with the fire protection engineering and codeconsulting firm, Hughes Associates, Inc. and is located in the firm's Warwick, Rhode Island office. He currently serves as a member of the National Fire Alarm Code Technical Correlating Committee, Chairman of the NFPA 72-2010 Emergency Communications Systems (ECS) Technical Committee and is the Editor of the 1993 edition and Co-Editor of the 1996 through 2007 editions of the National Fire Alarm Code Handbook.

Lawrence J. Wenzel, PE, is employed as a Senior Fire Protection Engineer for Hughes Associates, Inc., a nationally recognized company specializing in Code Consulting, Fire Protection Engineering, and Fire Science and Protection Research. Previously, he worked for Industrial Risk Insurers, where he was their first Certified Business Continuity Professional.

He has been involved in fire protection for more than thirty-five years, and is a registered Fire Protection Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) and a Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS). He has also been qualified to teach in the Disaster Recovery Institute's Certification program for Business Continuity Professionals.

Mr. Wenzel has worked in fire protection, loss prevention, and fire protection education since 1972. He has extensive experience in industrial fire protection and prevention. He also has developed and delivered a number of technical courses in college level Fire Science Programs, and industrial and public fire sector programs.

He is a member of the initiating devices chapter of NFPA 72: National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code, the technical correlating committee to NFPA 72, and the technical committee for NFPA 20: Standard for the Installation of Stationary Pumps for Fire Protection. He is an instructor for the NFPA, teaching the programs covering fire alarm systems, sprinklers, flammable liquids and facility fire safety.
