Improve your ability to recognize and control dust explosion hazards through the updated NFPA 654 Dust Explosion Hazards 2-day Seminar.

In this intensive 2-day training session, experts show you how to analyze typical examples of dust hazardous areas to indicate key factors associated with recognizing dust fire and explosion hazards and establishing control measures.

Use the 2013 edition of NFPA 654 to help you manage hazards in a manner consistent with current adopted fire and building codes and OSHA's Combustible Dust National Emphasis Program (NEP). By reviewing recent incident data, examining case studies, and discussing federal, state and local, and NFPA® code and standard requirements, you'll gain an in-depth understanding of this serious issue.

Upon completion you should be able to:

  • Identify, evaluate, and control dust fire and explosion hazards
  • List fundamental combustible dust properties and characteristics, and apply them to the hazard
  • Define key terms describing combustible dusts
  • List fundamental safeguards found in NFPA standards including NFPA 654, NFPA 61, NFPA 484, NFPA 655, and NFPA 664
  • Describe hazard management methods recognized in NFPA documents, and the three levels of hazard control
  • Examine case studies and apply applicable NFPA documents
  • Recognize dust explosion prevention and protection methods available based on NFPA 68 and NFPA 69
  • Formulate ways to mitigate facility dust hazards, including strategies for housekeeping
  • Discover how NFPA 654 is used by OSHA to identify dust explosion hazards
