NFPA 664: Standard for the Prevention of Fires and Explosions in Wood Processing and Woodworking Facilities specifies requirements for the construction, operation, and protection of industrial, commercial, or institutional facilities that process wood or manufacture wood products. These include, but are not limited to, woodworking facilities, furniture manufacturers, millwork shops, wood flour plants, lumber mills, and composite board plants.
The 2007 edition includes the following revisions:
- Requirements for a formal documented hazard analysis as the basis for the applicability of the prescriptive design criteria
- Additional requirements were added for what is required of a designer using performance-based design methods
- Advisory material was added regarding choices for placement of an abort gate with respect to the dust collector
