Properly assess the effectiveness and implementation of fire alarm system interfaces.
Familiarize yourself with equipment typically controlled or monitored by the fire alarm system including networked fire alarm, suppression, and security systems, as well as elevators, smoke doors, and HVAC.
Upon completion you should be able to:
- Describe suppression system interfaces, including operations that cause supervisory or alarm signals
- Determine how the fire pump interfaces with the fire alarm system
- Differentiate the fire alarm interfaces required for various suppression systems
- Explain the relationship between kitchen hood systems and the fire alarm system
- Evaluate fire alarm interfaces with elevators, including fire fighter's recall and shunt trip
- Recognize the role of the fire alarm system in releasing smoke doors and controlling the HVAC system
- Describe fire alarm interfaces with security systems, including door control
