- Determine the class, division, and group of an area
- List occupancies or types of installations for which area classification is provided in the NEC
- Identify methods of reducing the extent of a classified area
- Define the methods of protection used in Class I, II, and III areas
- Select or specify electrical equipment and wiring methods given the classification of an area
- Explain the purpose of seals in Class I and II areas
- Recognize locations for required seals given specific equipment and classified area boundaries
