This self-paced online course covers the sections of the 2012 NFPA 70E: Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace that provide workers with safety guidelines for situations where de-energizing is not possible or where de-energizing could create increased or additional hazards.
Working While Exposed to Electrical Hazards -- Course 3 in the NFPA 70E Online Course Series -- presents three lessons that cover the requirements for analysis of the electrical hazards and risks of working on energized electrical parts, the requirements for energized electrical work permits, and other precautions for activities involving electrical hazards.
Upon completion you should be able to:
- Identify required elements of a hazard/risk analysis and explain the difference between electrical hazards and risk
- Formulate the possible justification for working on energized circuits
- Explain the requirements for and elements of an energized electrical work permit
- Locate and describe other precautions for personnel activities for work on or around energized electrical equipment
