  • Explain the difference between explosion-proof equipment and intrinsic energy methods and define key terms, including explosion-proof, nonincendive and intrinsically safe, and explain the methods of creating dust-ignition proof enclosures.
  • Discuss the hazards and concerns of specific combustible fibers and flyings, the special hazards of metal dust.
  • Explain why stringent housekeeping requirements are important in Class III areas
  • Know the methods of identifying appropriate electrical equipment for a given classified area based on the flammable or combustible materials that are present.
