This self-paced online course covers the requirements in Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 of the 2012 NFPA 70E: Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace.
Safety-Related Maintenance and Special Equipment -- Course 6 in the NFPA 70E Online Course Series -- consists of two lessons that cover required maintenance of electrical equipment as it relates to electrical safety in the workplace and requirements for safety of employees who work with specific special types of equipment. This includes some hazards not specifically addressed in Chapter 1 of NFPA 70E.
Upon completion you should be able to:
- Identify maintenance requirements for various types of electrical equipment and protective equipment
- Explain how rules for special equipment in NFPA 70E's Chapter 3 may modify the general requirements of Chapter 1
- List the special types of equipment that are covered by Chapter 3
- Identify specific hazards other than shock and arc flash to which employees may be exposed if they work around batteries, lasers, or power electronic equipment
