Expanded in scope for greater protection from hazards!
NFPA 664: Standard for the Prevention of Fires and Explosions in Wood Processing and Woodworking Facilities specifies requirements for the construction, operation, and protection of facilities that process wood or manufacture wood products. These include, but are not limited to, woodworking facilities, furniture manufacturers, millwork shops, wood flour plants, lumber mills, and composite board plants.
The 2002 edition features a major expansion of the scope of the document, and includes other significant changes as well:
Expanded to include all the fire hazards associated with wood processing facilities (the occupancy), not just the dust (the commodity)
Revised to make the requirements more performance-based and enforceable
Modified to exclude small facilities based on facility area and flow rate criteria
