NFPA 1124: Code for the Manufacturing, Transportation, Storage and Retail Sale of Fireworks and Pyrotechnic Articles, 2003 Edition

NFPA 1124: Code for the Manufacturing, Transportation, Storage and Retail Sale of Fireworks and Pyrotechnic Articles applies to the manufacture, transportation, and storage of fireworks, pyrotechnic articles, and any components containing pyrotechnic or explosive compositions. It also covers the distribution and retail sales of fireworks, but does not apply to the use of consumer fireworks by the general public.

The 2003 edition incorporates the following changes:

• All manufacturing requirements are consolidated into a single chapter within the Code
• A new chapter has been added to cover all fire and life safety requirements applicable to the protection of consumer fireworks retail sales facilities
• A new chapter has been added to address those facilities where fireworks are stored independent of the manufacturing location while awaiting sale to fireworks retailers or wholesalers (distribution facilities)
