NFPA 14: Standard for the Installation of Standpipe and Hose Systems, 2003 Edition

This widely used standard covers requirements for the installation of standpipes, private hydrants, monitor nozzles, hose systems, and hose houses including methods and procedures of water flow testing for the evaluation of water supplies.

Revisions in the 2003 edition include:

• Clarification of technical requirements for the interconnection of standpipes, use and application of Class III standpipe systems and horizontal standpipes
• Requirements for hydrants and hydrant houses have been removed and returned to NFPA 24
• Guidance for Fire Flow Testing and Marking of Hydrants has been deleted (Appendix B) and returned to NFPA 291
• Format and editorial changes that improve readability and facilitate easier referencing
