On June 8, 1998 in Haysville, Kansas an unknown ignition source ignited dust in a large grain storage facility resulting in a series of explosions and the deaths of seven people. Dust explosions are a leading hazard in the grain industry. A lack of proper housekeeping and equipment maintenance can contribute to the accumulation of combustible dust.
