Safety is everybody's business
NFPA develops and publishes more than 300 consensus codes and standards intended to eliminate death, injury, property and economic loss due to fire, electrical and related hazards. Virtually every building, process, service, design, and installation in society today is affected by NFPA documents. Our codes and standards, administered by more than 250 Technical Committees comprising nearly 9,000 volunteer committee member seats, are adopted and used throughout the world.
The Standards Council oversees NFPA's standards development activities, administers the rules and regulations, and acts as an appeals body. Our process is open and consensus-based -- that means anybody can participate and expect fair and equal treatment.
