The next edition of this standard is now open for Public Comment.
This standard provides a test method to determine the fire resistance of passive fire protection (PFP) materials applied to the exterior of LP-Gas containers. It is intended to identify insulation systems that retard or prevent the release of the container's contents in a fire environment.
Testing simulates conditions of a torch fire environment created by the rupture of a nearby storage vessel and a fire fighter hose stream impingement on the insulated steel tank. The procedure is a test of materials and not a test of assemblies.
