This standard provides requirements to protect against loss of life and property from fire and explosion at marine terminals, piers, and wharves.
In addition to criteria for the construction and fire protection of piers, wharves, terminal buildings, and terminal yards, this standard addresses water supply for fire protection, hazardous materials storage, general terminal operations, and miscellaneous installations and operations of marine terminals. This standard does not apply to marine terminals designed to handle the transfer of flammable or combustible liquids in bulk and liquefied gases in bulk.
