What is NFPA 307?
NFPA 307: Document Scope

1.1 Scope. 1.1.1 This standard shall provide general principles for the construction and fire protection of marine terminals, piers, and wharves. 1.1.2 Nothing in this standard shall supersede any of the regulations of governmental or other regulatory authority. 1.1.3 The provisions of this standard shall reflect situations and state-of-the-art techniques at the time the standard was issued.

This standard provides requirements to protect against loss of life and property from fire and explosion at marine terminals, piers, and wharves.

What does NFPA 307 address?

In addition to criteria for the construction and fire protection of piers, wharves, terminal buildings, and terminal yards, this standard addresses water supply for fire protection, hazardous materials storage, general terminal operations, and miscellaneous installations and operations of marine terminals. This standard does not apply to marine terminals designed to handle the transfer of flammable or combustible liquids in bulk and liquefied gases in bulk.
