1.1 Scope. This standard shall cover all the equipment and installations used in the design, construction, transportation, fire safety, plumbing, heat-producing, and electrical systems of manufactured homes that are designed to be used as dwelling units. This standard shall, to the maximum extent possible, establish performance requirements. In certain instances, however, the use of specific requirements is necessary.
This standard maximizes safety with requirements for the full range of equipment and installations associated with manufactured homes that are used as dwelling units.
Requirements cover architectural planning considerations, fire safety, body and frame construction, testing of structural loads and building components, thermal protection, plumbing systems, HVAC, electrical systems, transportation, and special construction considerations.
