What is NFPA 1405?
Developed at the request of and in cooperation with the United States Coast Guard, this guide identifies the elements of a comprehensive marine fire-fighting response program for land based fire fighters responding to the unique challenges of fighting fires on vessels and enable land-based fire fighters to extinguish such fires safely and efficiently.

What does NFPA 1405 address?
Comprehensive provisions start with descriptions of the elements of the physical marine environment vessel familiarization, and vessel stability. Coverage continues for organizational resources, fire control plans, training, communications, and strategy and tactics. Separate chapters explain the National Incident Management System and the role of the U.S. Coast Guard in marine vessel fires; problems associated with marine fire fighting, including media relations, hazmat, pollution, and language barriers; and post-incident activities.Table Of Contents.
