NFPA 1720: Document Scope
1.1* Scope. This standard contains minimum requirements relating to the organization and deployment of fire suppression operations, emergency medical operations, and special operations to the public by volunteer and combination fire departments. 1.1.1* The requirements address functions and outcomes of fire department emergency service delivery, response capabilities, and resources. 1.1.2 This standard also contains minimum requirements for managing resources and systems, such as health and safety, incident management, training, communications, and pre-incident planning. 1.1.3 This standard addresses the strategic and system issues involving the organization, operation, and deployment of a fire department and does not address tactical operations at a specific emergency incident. 1.1.4 This standard does not address fire prevention, community education, fire investigations, support services, personnel management, and budgeting.

NFPA 1720 did not receive any comments and the committee determined, through ballot, that no further revisions are necessary. Therefore, NFPA 1720 shall be forwarded directly to the Standards Council for action in accordance with Section 4.7 (see also 4.5.2.5 and 4.4.8.4). Anyone wishing to appeal the issuance of NFPA 1720 can do so by
June 14, 2013 to the
Secretary, Standards Council.

Proposed NFPA documents will be presented for action at the applicable Annual (June) Association Technical Meeting only when proper Amending Motions (Notice of Intent to Make a Motion - NITMAM) have been certified by the Motions Committee of the Standards Council as a proper amending motion. Documents that receive no motions will not be presented at the meeting and instead will be forwarded directly to the NFPA Standards Council for action on issuance.
