What is NFPA 1855?
This standard helps reduce the safety risks and potential health risks associated with poorly maintained, contaminated, or damaged protective ensembles by specifying requirements to establish a program for the selection, care, and maintenance of utility technical rescue, rescue and recovery technical rescue, and chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) technical rescue protective ensembles and ensemble elements.

What does NFPA 1855 address?
Criteria apply to selection, inspection, cleaning and decontamination, repair, storage, retirement, disposition, special incident procedures, verification, and test procedures of protective ensembles and the individual ensemble elements and interface components. These include garments, helmets, gloves, footwear, and interface components that are compliant with NFPA 1951: Standard on Protective Ensembles for Technical Rescue Incidents.
