What is NFPA 5000?
NFPA 5000: Document Scope
1.1* Scope. 1.1.1 General. The Code addresses those construction, protection, and occupancy features necessary to minimize danger to life and property. 1.1.2 Code Title. The provisions of this document shall constitute and be known as NFPA 5000, Building Construction and Safety Code, hereinafter referred to as “this Code” or “the Code.”
This code provides requirements for those construction, protection, and occupancy features necessary to safeguard life, health, property, and public welfare and minimize injuries. Official document scope
What does NFPA 5000 address?
Design criteria regulate and control the permitting; design; construction, alteration, and repair; quality of materials; equipment and systems; use and occupancy; demolition; location; and maintenance of all types of buildings and structures. Separate chapters address issues specific to individual occupancy types, structural features, building materials, and building systems. A performance-based option is also included. Table of Contents
