Reorganization for NFPA Standards in the Wildland Urban Interface
The NFPA Standards Council is seeking public opinion on a proposed reorganization of the Technical Committee on Forest and Rural Fire Protection (FRU-AAA).  The committee submitted a request to the Standards Council at its October 2013 meeting to reorganize into two new technical committees with more well-defined scopes.

Enforcer Funding Program

The NFPA Enforcer Funding Program is providing funding for NFPA Technical Committee participation for certain public sector Committee members who have been designated by the NFPA Standards Council, for purposes of committee balance, in the category of “Enforcing Authority (E)” (“Enforcers”).

At the March 2014 meeting, the Council approved the reorganization of the Forest and Rural Fire Protection Technical Committee into two new committees.  These two new Technical Committees are seeking members:

  • Wildland and Rural Fire Protection (WRP-AAA):  Submit online application
    Approved scope:  This committee shall have the primary responsibility for documents on fire protection in wildland, rural, and suburban areas.
  • Wildland Fire Management (WFM-AAA):  Submit online application
    Approved scope:  This committee shall have the primary responsibility for documents on wildland fire management.

  • Common Mass Evacuation Planning (CMO-AAA):  Submit online application 
    The Committee on Common Mass Evacuation Planning is seeking members in the interest classifications of Installer/Maintainer, Applied Research/Testing Laboratory, Insurance, Consumer, Enforcer, Labor, Manufacturer, and User.  This Committee is responsible for developing a Standard to establish a common set of criteria for mass evacuation plans hereinafter referred to as the plan.
      
  • Non-structural Fire Fighting SCBA (FAE-NSF):   Submit online application
    The Committee on Non-structural Fire Fighting SCBA is seeking members in the interest classifications of Installer/Maintainer, Applied Research/Testing Laboratory, Insurance, Consumer, Enforcer, Labor, Special Expert, and User.
