WIRED GLASS
Technical Glass Products now offers Pilkington Pyroshield™ Plus - a new breed of wired glass that offers impact safety in addition to fire protection. Pyroshield Plus provides an affordable alternative to meet safety needs. Taking traditional wired glass and laminating it with a special interlayer to another layer of clear glass form the product. This gives Pyroshield Plus the strength to meet the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s impact safety standard, CPSC 16CFR1201 (Category I). VOICE EVACUATION
Gamewell’s fully digital and networkable audio evacuation systems are able to support up to six channels of digital audio, including line paging and two-way telephone communications, plus various control functions, all operating simultaneously on a single pair of wires or fiber optic cables. This new technology allows Gamewell to provide an extensive portfolio of integrated fire safety solutions for low- to mid-rise buildings and general areas of assembly, in addition to digital audio solutions for high-rise and campus applications. Integrated solutions include the IF602VE and IF610VE alternatives, which are both available with SmartScan or XP-95 SLC protocols. The IF602VE Series features a built-in 25-Watt voice system, which can be further expanded to 150 Watts and distributed over 24 evacuation zones. The IF610VE Series features up to 200 Watts of voice evacuation power in a single cabinet.
Audio expansion systems range from the 25-Watt to 150-Watt Audio Command Center (GW-ACC) to the GV System, Gamewell’s state-of-the-art networked multi-channel digital voice evacuation solution. The GV System supports up to 1,000 evacuation zones, 256 distributed audio panels and 200 Watts of voice evacuation power per panel. Gamewell’s audio expansion solutions are compatible with all 600 Series fire alarm control panels. Visit our online Reader Service site and enter #109 for more information on this product.
AUDIO EVACUATION SYSTEMS
Expanding on the features and benefits of the ACC-25/50 and ACC-25/50ZS, Fire-Lite introduces its newly distributed audio and zone splitter panels. The ACC-25/50DA audio panel increases the available wattage of the system to over 1500 watts of crystal-clear digital audio power; while the ACC-25/50ZS zone splitter panel increases the zone splitter capability up to 24 separate audio circuits. Fire-Lite Alarms, a part of Honeywell Fire Group, is the leading manufacturer of quality life safety systems. Visit our online Reader Service site and enter #104 for more information on this product.
SPARK DETECTION
GreCon’s spark detection and extinguishment systems are designed to add an element of safety against dust fires and explosions in pneumatic conveying systems. The system eliminates the early causes of fire, not the fire itself, by detecting and extinguishing the ignition source before it reaches collection equipment, filters, or silos. SURGE SUPPRESSION
The Ground Transient Terminator (GTT) technology developed by ECM Electronics and 9 Corporation sets a new standard for electrical transient and surge suppression for electronic equipment. In the case of alarm systems, the GTT is the first device that can be safely placed between case ground of alarm systems in order to eliminate one of the common causes of false alarms, ground transients. WEB-BASED CALCULATOR
System Sensor has developed the Equivalent Facilitation web-based calculator in an effort to provide architects and engineers with easy access to a tool that will assist in the design of audible/visible notification device circuits. By visiting www.systemsensor.com and then selecting the Install/Specify System Sensor Products tab or going directly to systemsensor.com/equivalent_facilitation/index.html, visitors may perform notification circuit design calculations by entering ceiling strobe candela values and inputting the longest wall and the ceiling height of the room. This calculator uses data provided by the user to perform the calculations described in Chapter 7 of the 2002 edition of NFPA 72, which permits the use of a performance-based alternative in lieu of tables for spacing ceiling mounted audible/visible devices. ARFF TRAINING EQUIPMENT
There is a new ARFF product that's a real hit! It’s a hit with airport fire chiefs and training officers because of its effectiveness, versatility and sturdiness. It’s also a very big hit with boom operators who like to “hit” it with their high-reach, extendable turret penetration devices. They are now able to experience realistic, hands-on penetration training. This new product is the Penetration Aircraft Skin Trainer (PAST), manufactured by Airport Professional Services (APS). By producing this product, APS responded to a much-needed training device for use with high-reach fuselage penetration devices. ALARM SYSTEM
NOTIFIER, a world leading manufacturer of commercial fire alarm technology and systems and part of Honeywell’s Life Safety Group, announces ONYXWorks®, a PC based graphical workstation. Integrating fire alarm, security, card access, CCTV and other important information, this new, advanced technology acts as a single point of control for life safety and security systems located throughout a building, city, state or even worldwide through Local or Wide Area Networks. ONYXWorks is an ideal retrofit solution, integrating existing fire alarm panels -- both NOTIFIER and other manufacturers -- with other security and life safety systems. ONYXWorks, both UL- and ULC-listed, allows authorized facility managers to monitor and manage everything over a proprietary or local network, even remote sites, all from a single PC. The ONYXWorks graphic workstation monitors, and displays floor plans for fire and non-fire reporting, as well as event history. Any potential emergency situations are immediately displayed on screen as priority events, allowing emergency personnel to quickly identify and investigate them. ONYXWorks allows responders to locate the precise location of concern using a detailed map of the building and event location.
