Report released on U.S. Fire Loss in 2009

(NFPA), explores the issue of emergency preparedness on college campuses in the cover article, The Big Picture
. The story highlights findings from a new report that shows colleges without an all-hazards approach to emergency preparedness may be at risk. The story also highlights best practices from schools handling emergency preparedness well.
According to NFPA’s newly released report U.S. Fire Loss in 2009, public fire departments responded to 1,348,500 fires in the United States. The overall number of fires fell by more than seven percent from the previous year.
