August 13, 2012 – The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and LEGOLAND® Florida are teaming up to raise awareness for fire safety with the launch of a The Big Test Video Contest. Members of the public are encouraged to video record their rendition of “Put the Wet Stuff on the Hot Stuff,” based on the song and performance from The Big Test Show at LEGOLAND Florida. Video submissions will be accepted August 13 – September 12, 2012. Visit www.nfpa.org/legoland for details.
According to NFPA, nearly 370,000 reported home structure fires in the U.S. caused 2,640 civilian deaths and thousands of injuries in 2010. NFPA is the official sponsor of The Big Test show - an acrobatic comedy involving a cast of real characters that try to become firefighters who convey important fire safety messages throughout their performance.
“Fire safety is a serious topic and most often fires can be prevented by following a few simple safety tips,” said Lorraine Carli, NFPA’s vice president of communications. “NFPA’s partnership with LEGOLAND helps us reach a wide audience in an entertaining way with safety tips and information that can prove to be live-saving.”

Video finalists will be selected by NFPA and LEGOLAND Florida and the public will be invited to vote for their favorite beginning on Monday, September 17. Public vote will determine which video gets awarded the grand prize of a trip to LEGOLAND Florida to be announced on October 4.
