National Electrical Code eBooks available through Cengage Learning

November 14, 2013Cengage Learning, a leading educational content, software and services company for the academic, professional and library markets, and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) today announced the availability of digital National Electrical Code® (NEC®) products for Kindle and Apple devices, and soon to be released on NOOK devices. Updated by the NFPA every three years, the NEC is the publication that sets the standard in the electrical industry and helps professionals remain code-compliant.

“We are pleased to team up with NFPA and work together to offer NFPA digital materials to our customers. As we move through this digital world, we understand that the needs of our customers are changing, which is why we are constantly investing in our products to make them more effective and more efficient,” said Greg Clayton, vice president, Cengage Learning. “The print NEC materials have been our best-selling building trades products over the years, so being able to deliver them in an electronic format is very exciting. Electrical professionals can now carry all of these important codes in the palm of their hand – via a tablet, eReader or smartphone – to ensure easy access on a jobsite and on-the-go.”

“Technology is changing the way people work and how they access information needed to do their jobs,” said Kim Fontes, division director of product development, NFPA. “By offering digital formats of the NEC and supporting materials, NFPA is answering the call from its customers to enhance access to the information and provide added convenience. Whether professionals need to reference materials on the job site, in their office or on the road, new digital formats make it easier than ever to have information at their fingertips.”

NFPA has a host of products designed to offer rationale and clarifications for new and updated rules, in addition to practical, real-world advice on how to apply the codes. The NEC has acted as a valuable reference for those in electrical design, installation, inspection and safety careers for over 100 years. The following publications are available from Cengage Learning in a digital format:
