Fire Safety Quilt

Objective
- Students will be able to construct a fire safety quilt to display important
fire safety tips with other students.
Core Subject Integration
Materials
- plastic lids
- pipe cleaners
- hole punch
- scissors
- markers and crayons
- colored paper
- gold and white doilies
Procedure
- Students (teacher, teacher's aide, parent volunteers may assist students if
needed) punch holes in lids.
- Draw and color fire safety tips on various colors of paper with markers and
crayons.
- Cut out fire safety
tips and glue on the doilies. Glue the doilies and
fire safety tips on the plastic lids.
- Cut pipe cleaners into small pieces.
- Attach plastic lids with pipe cleaner pieces to form the quilt.
Sample safety messages:
- Hot things hurt
- Don't play with matches
- Don't touch lighters
- Tell a grown-up if you find something dangerous
