 That’s why it’s so important to have smoke alarms in your home. Ask a grown-up to make sure that you have smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside the sleeping area and on every level of your home.  First of all, you should always stay away form anything that gets hot – like a stove, fireplace, or grill. If your clothes catch on fire, stop, drop and roll.

Stop right away, drop to the ground, and cover your face with your hands. Roll over and over or back and forth to put out the fire. Cool the burn for three to five minutes. And tell a grow-up right away. Signed, Sparky

 When there is a fire or smoke, should you stop, drop and roll?

 No. Many kids get this one confused. If there is a fire, get out quickly and go to your outside meeting place. If there is smoke, use you second way out. If you must go through smoke, get low and go under the smoke and go to your outside meeting place.

Stop, drop, and roll is only done if your clothes catch fire. So, make sure you stay away from things that get hot – like a stove, grill, fireplace, matches and lighters – so your clothes never catch fire. Signed, Sparky
