Do you know your ABCs? How about Sparky's ABCs? My fire safety alphabet will help keep you safe if there is a fire! Learn how fires start, how to prevent them, and what to do when there is a fire. Get out fast when you hear an Alarm because Big fires start small. Once you're out, Call the fire department. Smoke Detectors will warn your family to Escape. On your way out, Feel the doors before you open them. Get out and stay out! Don't ever Hide! Don't ever stay Inside! Join Sparky's Fire Prevention Team, and Keep Lighters and Matches out of children's hands. Never play with them. Organize your family and make a Plan to get out of your home Quickly. If your clothes catch on fire, Roll, don't run. Stop, drop, and roll. Always know Two ways out and crawl Under smoke. Volunteer to learn these things and we will Win! Check for eXit signs in public places. It's up to You, and it's up to me, fire safety is as e-Z as ABC! Fire Safety Flashcards Download a set of Sparky's ABCs flashcards and print them out. Just color in the cards, cut them out along the dotted lines, and you're ready to play. Activity 1 See how many words you can create using the cards and then record the words on a piece of paper. Each letter can only be used once in each word. Activity 2 Find a partner and play Sparky's ABCs Memory Game. Lay the cards out face down. One player takes a turn to select a card. The player tells his/her partner the letter on the card he/she is holding. The partner has 30 seconds to describe the message presented on the card. For example, if the player reads the letter A, the other player must say, "When you hear a fire Alarm, get out fast. Get out and stay out!" If the player has explained the correct fire safety message, he/she wins the card. If the safety message has not been explained correctly, the card is returned face down and the other player takes a turn. The player with the most cards at the end of the game is the winner.
