Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional

CESCP

The NFPA Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional (CESCP) certification program is based on the NFPA 70E, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace, 2015 Edition standard.

This program is specifically designed to meet the certification requirements of supervisors managing electricians and other facilities personnel who work with electrical power systems.

The CESCP certification program consists of a set of eligibility requirements (completed prior to program application), a computer-based examination (with a retest process in the event that you do not pass the exam), and a set of re-certification requirements (based on a points system) that must be completed within a three-year time period following the initial certification.

CESCP exam

The CESCP certification exam is a three hour maximum, open-book, 100 multiple choice question, computer-based, proctored exam taken at an approved testing center. You may only bring a printed NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace, 2015 Edition book and an approved calculator into the testing area during the exam. No photocopied or other duplicated or electronic versions of the NFPA 70E Standard are permitted in the testing area during your exam.

See the Candidate Handbook (below) for more information on registering for and taking the CESCP certification exam.

As of 1 February, 2017, the CESCP certification exam will change to 110 multiple choice questions, 100 of which are scored and 10 of which are being evaluated for future use as scored items. Candidates must still complete the exam in the allotted three hours. Examinees will not know which items are scored and which are not scored, as is common practice in the testing industry.

To locate a computer based testing center near you, visit the test center website.

Attention CESCP Candidates

Due to the imminent release of the 2018 Edition of NFPA 70E, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace, we are working to transition our exam to coincide with the new version of the standard. At this time, we expect to move to a 2018-based exam effective January 1, 2018. Therefore, the last date you will be able to schedule a 2015-based exam will be December 31, 2017. After that date, there will be no more 2015 exams, to include re-tests. Please plan accordingly.
