NFPA Fire Safety Educational Memorial Fund Scholarship Program ON HOLD

NFPA believes that timing is propitious for us to take a closer look at the overall process and to review and revamp the program in a way to make it more robust, increasing awareness and participation. We have decided to put the 2015 NFPA Fire Safety Educational Memorial Fund Scholarship Program ON HOLD while we evaluate. Our intent is to launch a new and improved program of support in the future. We will continue to keep you informed on the status of the program.


 

A $5,000 scholarship awarded to a fire protection engineering student who has demonstrated excellence in academic achievement and intent to perform a thesis or graduate project activity aimed at improving fire protection engineering methods.

2013-14 recipient
Young-Geun You is in his third year of his PhD program at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). He holds a LLB (Bachelor of Law) in Inha university in Korea and a BE (Bachelor of Engineering) in Safety Engineering in Seoul National University of Technology, and completed his M.S in Fire Protection Engineering from WPI in 2010. After studied in Law in Korea, he was fascinated by engineering approaches to solve a problem and fire simulation programs when he was working in a consulting company. He got FPE Master Degree in W.P.I and now is studying PBD and regulation, and also interested in fire experiments and fire modeling related to material science.
