What we're looking for
We want everyone attending next year to learn from your experiences using the Ecosystem model around the world to enhance the understanding, knowledge, and skills of those who promote, plan, apply, operate, and maintain fire, electrical, and life safety systems to protect people and property.
We are particularly interested in sessions that address the following topics.
Preparedness and Emergency Response—Includes firefighter health and safety, use of drones in emergency response, response to hazardous incidents, active shooter and hostile events, wildland urban interface (WUI) fires, and community risk reduction (CRR).
Emerging Issues—Includes sustainable and renewable energy, energy storage systems, photovoltaic systems, alternate fuel/electric vehicles, and challenges with cybersecurity.
Challenges Faced During Covid-19—Includes case studies on challenges faced during Covid-19 for emergency response, fire protection and life safety, and code compliance.
Building Life Safety and Construction—Includes construction fire safety, 3D-printed construction design and inspection considerations, fire door and opening protectives, fire and life safety considerations for health care facilities, and considerations during cannabis cultivation and processing.
Fire Protection Systems—Includes best practices and responsibilities for fire protection system inspection, testing, and maintenance, fire protection system design, fire protection installation, new fire protection technologies, and challenges faced with cybersecurity.
Code Compliance—Includes case studies on inspections, remote inspections, and inspections of cannabis facilities.
Informed Public—Includes cases showing innovative digital/virtual public education efforts, assuring inclusion across cultures and abilities, addressing high-risk/high-burden populations, and using NFPA materials and messages to deliver data-driven public education efforts.
Electrical—Includes electrical safety case studies and research, application of the National Electrical Code® to new technologies and emerging issues, and best practices for electrical inspections.
The Review and Selection Committee will evaluate all proposals based on such factors as topic relevance, value offered to attendees, and the submitter’s experience and credentials. We are looking for educational sessions that go above and beyond the average podium presentation.
