Senior Chemical Engineer

Join our busy Chemical and Industrial Engineering Division as a Senior Engineer! The Senior Engineer will independently manage technical projects of major complexity related to their area of expertise. These projects will include technical committee, product development, as well as other association activities. The Senior Engineer will serve as an Association spokesperson with their area of expertise, as well as a technical project manager for all assigned technical committees.

Principal responsibilities:

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of industrial/chemical experience
  • Proven project management experience and excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and writing skills are important.
  • Knowledgeable on professional engineering concepts and methods; applied knowledge to carry out complex work assignments and large scale projects.

Applied Research Director

Join NFPA in a new position designed to bridge the resources of the research community to NFPA’s advocacy and standards programs. The applied research director will follow major research conferences and synthesize and bring that information back to NFPA and its stakeholders as well as be available as a technical resource for some of the major issues facing fire and life safety. The Applied Research Director will support NFPA’s strategy as a fire safety knowledge and information provider by analyzing, curating and communicating relevant research in support of our mission.

Principal responsibilities:

  • Identify and monitor emerging research relevant to NFPA’s mission and the needs of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Curate and analyze relevant research in support of NFPA’s strategic objectives and present to internal and external technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Develop and advise on appropriate communications mechanisms to meet stakeholder needs, including publications, electronic media, and others and utilize to raise awareness of relevant research.
  • Represent NFPA and our stakeholder interests in the research community through participation in research planning, conferences, and research panels as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated strong research, analytical and communications skills.
  • Must have a master’s degree with an applied research focus, as well as experience in the fire, electrical or related safety fields or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical material clearly in written and spoken form for diverse non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment and provide and utilize feedback effectively.

Electrical Code Specialist

We have an ideal opportunity for an electrical engineer who will independently manage technical projects of a complex nature related to area of expertise including technical committee, product development, and association activities. The primary responsibility of this position is to perform the following listed activities on behalf of the core Electrical projects; NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70 E (Electrical Safety in the Workplace), and NFPA 72 National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code).
