Enforcer Funding Program

The NFPA Enforcer Funding Program is providing funding for NFPA Technical Committee participation for certain public sector Committee members who have been designated by the NFPA Standards Council, for purposes of committee balance, in the category of “Enforcing Authority (E)” (“Enforcers”). Committees seeking enforcers 


Emergency Responders Occupational Health
The Standards Council is considering initiating a comprehensive standards development approach to address all aspects of contamination control in the responder segment. NFPA would like to know if you or your organization is interested in applying for membership on the proposed Technical Committee on Emergency Responders Occupational Health if standards development is approved by the Standards Council. While the scope for this new Committee has not been approved, the Committee is anticipated to have responsibility for standards on contamination and infection control for all emergency responders. Additionally, the new Committee shall be responsible for comprehensive occupational medical programs for emergency responders. The Council is seeking members with expertise such as oncology, epidemiology, occupational medicine, hygienists, NFFF Cancer Alliance, research,architects, SCBA manufacturers, Infectious Disease (MD), etc. If interested in participating in standards development as a committee member, please submit an application by June 3, 2019. Fire Service Analysts and Informational Technical Specialists Professional Qualifications
The Standards Council is in receipt of a new project request for the development of an ANSI Accredited Standard to establish requirements for a professional qualification standard for Fire Service Analysts and Informational Technical Specialists. Specifically, this standard request seeks a holistic standard which address the complex and emerging areas of planning, managing and executing analyses and technology infrastructure within fire service organizations. If standards development is approved by the Standards Council, the standard may additionally address related topics as the Standard Council directs. The Council is seeking applications from individuals across multiple disciplines, such as software developers, researchers, regulatory agencies and oversight agencies. Fuel Gas Detection
The Standards Council is in receipt of a new project request for the development of an ANSI Accredited Standard to establish requirements for fuel gases detection. Specifically, it is anticipated and requested that a standard be established for the selection, installation, operation, and maintenance of fuel gases warning equipment. If standards development is approved by the Standards Council, the standard may additionally address related topics as the Standard Council directs.  If interested in participating in standards development as a committee member, please submit an application by May 17, 2019. Spaceports
Applicants with code enforcement experience, research/testing skills, and manufacturing knowledge are being sought to participate in drafting the proposed NFPA Standard on Spaceports. As some background on the project, the NFPA Standards Council approved a new project to develop requirements for privately operated spaceports. After a review of all information provided, the Council voted to approve the development of a new technical committee and directed that a call for members be published. Staff will return to the Council meeting in August, with a proposed start-up roster and a scope for the committee. This new standard will establish guidance on the construction and operation of facilities used to house, maintain, and deploy rockets(solid and liquid), space planes, and other similar craft. It will also provide recommendations on static stands used for testing and the development of rockets and space planes, among others.
