How to get involved

CE

Emergency responders can get involved with NFPA in a variety of ways, including individual and fire department memberships, technical committee participation, through our codes and standards process, and more.

Get involved with NFPA
  • Standards in Action: Your Voice Matters. NFPA is working to strengthen its outreach to the fire service, who are impacted by NFPA codes and standards on the job. If you think changes need to be made to them, we need to hear from you!
  • NFPA's Fire Service Member Section stimulates awareness of the need for continually improving programs in management, training, and education within the profession.
  • Technical Committees: Learn how to apply for an NFPA Technical Committee or Panel that develop and revise NFPA’s codes and standards every three to five years.
  • NFPA Conference & Expo is the largest annual event of its kind for the fire and life safety community, offering tremendous opportunities to network with members of the fire service throughout the country, and to stay apprised of the latest in firefighting techniques, standards, practices and technologies.
  • NFPA membership: As a member of NFPA, you have access to a wealth of resources and information, including technical support, codes and standards alerts, technology updates and professional connection that help you make the right choices on the job, and to prepare for possible outcomes.
  • NFPA Xchange: Our free, online community lets you connect with fellow emergency responders. Explore content, share ideas, and ask questions. By curating real-world questions  and answers, Xchange is a growing database of advice and solutions to the very issues you face day-to-day. Forums specific to responders include Rural Firefighters Connection and FireTech: Emergency Response Innovation and Technology.
