A new video produced by the Kansas Fire Marshal's Office underscores the three most common myths about home fire sprinklers, and the truth about their performance:

 


 

House Fire in Downtown Salina Controlled by Sprinklers 

Home fire sprinkler headThe Salina Fire Department credited a sprinkler activation for aiding firefighters during an April 2015 fire in downtown Salina. The fire initiated in a vacant loft apartment above an antique store. All nearby residents and visitors were safely evacuated. "[The sprinkler system] did activate, and that definitely helped our operation," Salina Fire Marshal Roger Williams told the Salina Journal.
