Between 2010-2014, U.S. fire departments responded to an estimated average of 358,300 home structure fires each year. These fires caused an annual average of:
- more than 2,500 civilian fire deaths
- nearly 13,000 civilian fire injuries
- $6.7 billion in direct damage.
Ninety-three percent of all structure fire deaths resulted from home fires. On average, seven people died in U.S. home fires per day.
