Chief Black of Anderson County (SC) Fire Department was on duty when a call came in to inform him that his house was on fire.

"A fire sprinkler system would have easily contained or controlled  the fire or maybe even extinguished the fire if there had been one installed in my home."

Name: Chief Brian Black
Location: Anderson County, South Carolina
Injury: No injuries, but Chief Black's home and all of its contents were destroyed by fire.

Chief Black of Anderson County (SC) Fire Department was on duty at the fire station when a call came in to inform him that his house was on fire. His wife was able to evacuate their four children through her downstairs bedroom window. Chief Black believes the only reason his entire family survived is that the children had all "camped out" in the downstairs bedroom with their mother because it was a Saturday night and he was on duty. Although his family survived, the house was destroyed and they lost everything they owned. Recognizing how close he came to losing his family, he made a decision to include fire sprinklers when he rebuilt his home.
