What is the difference between an NFPA code or standard and a handbook?
An NFPA Code/Standard contains requirements for that code/standard. In addition to the full code/standard text, an NFPA Handbook also contains commentary written by leading electrical and fire protection authorities; examples of correct code applications; and hundreds of photos, tables, diagrams and charges to help clarify code requirements.
How much is shipping & handling?
For orders with shippable goods, NFPA will add a $9.95 handling fee to orders under $1,000, or 2% of merchandise total for orders of $1,000 or more. Additional charges for express shipping charges (if requested), and sales tax (for California residents only.)* The NFPA online catalog does not have a way to calculate expedited shipping costs at this time. If you select U.S. standard delivery, NFPA pays the shipping. For expedited (rush) orders, the warehouse calculates the most cost effective method to send your order. We charge you the exact cost. Your credit card is not charged until the items are shipped. You can place your order by phone at +1 800 344-3555 to get more information about the shipping costs for your order.
*Tax for California residents: Final order will be calculated based on applicable local rates. Sales tax applies to total order plus handling charge. If tax exempt, please provide NFPA a copy of certificate.

Can I pay by purchase order?
Yes. We allow some domestic orders to be billed, subject to credit approval. Please see our Payment Policy for specific details regarding making payments using a purchase order or bill me request.
Does NFPA offer a member discount?
Yes. 10% will be deducted from the subtotal of your order if you are a NFPA member and login with your NFPA ID number or e-mail address and the password for your profile.
