NFPA awards Philip J DiNenno the prestigious Paul C Lamb Award

June 12, 2011 – The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) awarded Philip J. DiNenno with the esteemed 2011 Paul C. Lamb Award at NFPA’s 2011 Conference & Expo in Boston today. The award, given for volunteer service, is the highest recognition bestowed by the association.

DiNenno began work at Hughes Associates, Inc. in 1985 and has been president since 1997. Previously, he worked as a fire protection engineer at Benjamin/Clarke Associates and Professional Loss Control, Inc. DiNenno is a member of NFPA’s Board of Directors. He is a past member of several NFPA technical committees and is a current member of the Technical Committee on Gaseous Fire Extinguishing Systems and the Technical Committee on Merchant Vessels. DiNenno also served on NFPA’s Standards Council 1998 – 2007 and was chair 2002 – 2007. He is a registered professional engineer in Tennessee and Arizona and holds a B.S. in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland, where he also lectured from 1977 – 1990.

The award is named in honor of Paul C. Lamb as a tribute to his legacy of service to NFPA and its mission. It is only awarded to those who have given service to NFPA that exemplifies volunteer spirit and deed. It recognizes leadership skills, tact and diplomacy, straightforwardness, professional integrity, and active dedication to the goals of NFPA. DiNenno is only the 20th individual to receive this award since its inception in 1980.
