Fire Safety in the United States since 1980

Wednesday, October 20, 12:30 p.m. ET
Amanda Kimball, Birgitte Messerschmidt, Marty Ahrens, NFPA

Much has changed in nearly four decades since the “America Burning” report was issued in 1973 and revisited in 1980. The number of fires and fire deaths in the United States has been reduced dramatically, and that progress has unfortunately led to fire safety taking a back seat to other societal concerns that seem more pressing. To understand the headway that has been made and the challenges that remain, NFPA® and FPRF examined various factors, data sets, and trends through the lens of the NFPA Fire & Life Safety Ecosystem to highlight the areas of progress as well as areas where more work is needed. This FPRF webinar will present the findings from this study.

Topic areas: Electrical, Emergency Response, Building & Life Safety, Fire Protection Systems, Industrial Hazards, Code Enforcement, Research, Wildfire
